Last night as Matt was rummaging around our "junk drawer" for a pencil for Mason, he started to find a few things that Mason found more interesting than the art project he was about to do. For instance, there was a pen light in there from my old hospital days. Mason thought it was the coolest thing ever to have us open our mouths so he could look inside. After a couple of times looking into our mouths without much to say, Matt asked Mason what he saw inside his mouth and Mason started laughing and said, "Lunch!" as he ran off giggling leaving Matt and I to wonder, where does he come up with these things?

Driving around the neighborhood

Mason took his sister for her first "ride"! He took her around the driveway and down the street in his Cadillac. He thought he was pretty cool. The first thing he did was get in his car, turn the radio way up and then backed it out of the garage before he would let me put Taylor in. After I strapped her in they were off! It wasn't long before Taylor started pushing buttons and nobs, and Mason was trying to stop her. He was paying more attention to her and not where he was going and almost ran right into daddy's truck! Not good! He went off road a few times because he was trying to keep her from pulling his hair or touching him. Is this what I have to look forward too??? All in all they really did have a good time and Taylor is looking forward to her next ride!

Fourth of July

I can't remember the last time the Fourth of July was so hot! It definately made for a fun weekend, lots of time outside! I think Mason had the most fun out of all of us. The weekend started out with a field trip for his pre-school. We went to Jim's U-fish so the kids could finish up their week learning about fish by actually fishing. They also had some pretty interesting animals running around for the kids to look at. Their was a camel, emu's, peacocks, pony's, etc. Mason was sitting on a picnic bench eating lunch when he turned around and a shetland pony was nose to nose with him trying to get a bite of sandwich! Needless to say this did not make Mason happy because when it comes to food he does not like to share! Despite the pony incident Mason had a great time, he caught two fish with Daddy and he ran around with his little girl friend Ruthy.
After our adventure at the U-fish, we spent the rest of the weekend down at Paw-Paw and Grandma Arnold's because they put in a pool! I can't think of any better way to spend a hot weekend than playing in a pool. Taylor absolutely loved it, where as Mason thought it was a little to cold at first. Sitting in a pool for an hour or so did wonders for Taylor's skin. We had a little dougnut floaty thing that she could sit in and just lounge around while everyone pushed her around the pool. She definately thought she was the princess!
As for fireworks, we just spent some time at my parent's house. They have a wonderful view of the Orting valley. You can see the fireworks show from the Muckleshoot's, the Orting firework show, and not to mention everyone else who is setting them off from their home. Mason also got to have some fun with sparklers and he thought it was pretty cool that he got to put on his own firework show. So it was a great weekend and now we are just trying to get back to a "normal" routine.......

Mason the gardener

Last night when Matt went outside to work in the yard, Mason was out the door before he was! Mason loves helping daddy outside from mowing the lawn to watering the garden. We are so amazed at this little almost three year old's work ethic! He was having so much fun cleaning up the trimmings from the bushes Matt was cutting. I wish you all could have seen Mason carrying around a 5 gallon bucket that is as big as he is and taking the branches and dumping them over the raveen. He is so cute!
Mason is also having a lot of fun with our garden. This is the first year that we planted one, and he has loved watching the seeds turn into plants that are giving us tons of vegetables! They are also growing a garden at his pre-school, and Mason is always the first to water all the flower beds. Taylor is reaping the benefits from all of Mason's hard work, she gets a lot of homemade baby food from the garden. Last night she had beets for the first time. She loved them, but I am not sure how often she will get them, what a mess!
The best part of this is watching Matt and Mason together. I have always loved Matt, but I love him even more watching him be such a great father. He is so wonderful with the kids and he is so patient with Mason when he wants to help. It makes me so thankful for my great family.
